The attachment-limit math
Gmail and Outlook cap messages around 20–25 MB, and many corporate mail servers reject far less. Phone photos run 3–5 MB each, so a simple “here are the photos” email dies after five or six attachments — and even when it sends, it clogs the recipient’s inbox. Compressed to a couple hundred kilobytes each, fifty photos fit where six did.
Right-size, don’t ruin
Email photos are viewed on screens, not printed as posters, so an aggressive target costs nothing visible. The default 200KB target keeps photos crisp on any laptop or phone display; batch mode applies it to every attachment in one run, and you can download them together as a ZIP.
No detour through a server
It would be ironic to route private photos through an unknown server just to email them privately. Compression happens in your browser — the photos go from your folder to your draft without a third party in between.

- No. All compression happens locally in your browser using the Canvas API. Your files never leave your device and are never sent to a server.
- Does compression reduce quality?
- Lossy formats (JPG, WebP, AVIF) trade a little quality for much smaller files, and the quality slider lets you find the right balance. PNG is lossless, so it stays pixel-perfect.
- Which formats are supported?
- You can compress JPG, PNG and WebP. You can also convert a PNG photo to WebP during compression for much smaller files.
- Can I compress to a specific file size?
- Yes. Switch to “Target size” mode and PixelVault searches for the highest quality that fits under your chosen KB limit.
- Can I compress multiple images at once?
- Yes. Drop in as many images as you like and download them individually or together as a single ZIP file.
